Report: Trump fires entire HIV/AIDS council by FedEx letter

Washington, D.C. — and plans to eliminate funding President Donald Trump reportedly fired the remaining members of the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS (PACHA) Wednesday.

In June, Scott A. Schoettes, a Chicago-based HIV/AIDS activist, and five other members resigned from PACHA saying the Trump White House was pushing for legislation that would harm people living with HIV.

Schoettes tweeted Thursday that their remaining council members had been fired.

"No respect for their service," Schoettes said. "Dangerous that #Trump and Co. (Pence esp.) are eliminating few remaining people willing to push back against harmful policies, like abstinence-only sex ed."

According to the Washington Blade, the White House informed the council members they were terminated without explanation with a letter via FedEx.

The Obama administration eliminated all of George W. Bush's PACHA appointees in the same way, according to Newsweek.

Sources told Newsweek they suspect the charter for PACHA will be re-written with renewed focus on abstinence and religious, non-evidence based public health approaches.

HIV/AIDS activists have been critical of the Trump Administration's approach and plans to eliminate HIV/AIDS funding.

His comments about the Haitians said it all! I remember the Reagan years. May God have mercy on his soul
